Hey, Jeffers,

Yup, as we've established privately by now, you got the right number. Surely you get some kind of award for most inventive use of the webgivens. Finally got around to approving your post after I realized that it doesn't compromise your privacy any more than keeping your blog does. In fact, consider this your official plug. ;)

Love back at ya,
M.

I'm guessing that you are the Michael Massing of my past (BG OH 1978-80) You called this summer last while on your way to visit a dying friend but you called while I was in Wisconsin. I always figured that you must be web-findable but I don't think that I ever knew that your first name was douglas. That other gay Michael Massing doesn't help either. really clogs up the google search.

Anyway, I'm at the address and blog above. If you are who I think you are I would love to re-connect,

Love, (regardless of who you are),
Jeff

Michael, I was so sorry to hear about Lillian's passing. I know how close you were to her and I remember her as a good person. I also know that you helped make her life easier and gave a lot of yourself to her just as she gave to you. I'm sure that Alex is glad to have you now as extended family.

Love,

Shirley

This gay news company has offered another interesting view that presents the same arguements: http://www.queerplanet.us/moxie/newscast/national/080306-001.shtml

There is also a website on Justin Berry that can be found at http://www.thetruthaboutjustin.com which also disputes the NY Times version of events.

A final website http://www.kengourlay.com includeds a statement from the person that is accused of molesting Justin Berry. He proclaims his innocence.

"He made money from his pornography sites by making adults think he was 18..."

Is this the case? That's certainly not what the Times article implies, and that's hard to pull off starting at age 13.

Best,
M.

I don't care to make any value judgments on the character of Mr. Berry. Clearly he's good at manipulating those with more money or power to give him what he wants. I do wish him the best at his new life.

The question of how this media attention is based on the sex of the victim has also been raised raised in the Slate piece linked from the Wikipedia article cited above.

I don't quite buy into the conspiracy theory, but the Mogenic piece certainly raises some interesting questions.

Justin Berry is a weasel. Suggesting that he is a victim is a slap in the face to real victims everywhere. He made money from his pornography sites by making adults think he was 18, and now he is making money from his appearances on shows like Oprah. Would this have had the same response had he been a 16 year old girl that filmed herself and put the videos online? Would her adult viewers have been called pedophiles? Or is it more likely this is just a twisted form of homophobia attempting to rid the net of disgusting gay pornography? It’s an interesting idea to think about…
